Three men crossing the state in a snowkiting expedition have been hampered by a lack of snow. But they`re not giving up.
The expedition, called “To Cross the Moon,” takes Sam Salwei, Paul Cassady and Jason Magness across western North Dakota, from the Canadian border to South Dakota.
Snowkiting relies on the wind to power a kite. But there`s not enough snow now, so the group is using a mountain board and three-wheeled buggies powered by wind. The mountain board is like a skateboard with big wheels.
Salwei and Magness steer the front wheel of the buggies with their feet and control the kite with their hands.
Salwei says it`s an adventure.
The three started their 390-mile trip February 11, from Crosby. They have about eight days left.
